Sustainable Food Systems Science (SFSS) at Indiana University studies the social dimensions of food sustainability including culture, equity, and justice in food provisioning from local to global scale. In Indiana, and in research sites around the world, we examine the production, coordination, and consumption of food value chains and the supporting networks and decision-making from individual to organizational levels. Our engaged research and advocacy for innovative solutions center on the promotion of human thriving.

SFSS has an opening for a graduate assistant for Spring semester 2022. The stipend is $9000, plus 12 hours of tuition remission and health insurance. Work over Summer 2022 is also available for additional stipend. The position requires 20 hours per week during the Spring Semester. 

The successful applicant will work with SFSS and Anthropology faculty on qualitative projects relating to sustainable food and environment in rural and urban settings in the US, including Indiana.  Some travel for in-state research will be funded. Key skills include interview, focus groups, collaboration, writing, and oral communication. Experience with ethnography and the ethics of researching cultural diversity is desirable. Specific training will be provided. Applicants from any field are encouraged to apply.
